The long-term goal of the SEE | EU Cluster of Excellence is the establishment of a Graduate School (Graduiertenkolleg/Graduiertenschule) in European and International Law.
Besides European and International Law in general, the focus lies on raising interest with regard to the issue of cross-border regional and local cooperation, the EU neighbourhood policy in general and the gradual approximation of neighbouring states to EU legal standards.
The entire concept of the Graduate School will be completely defined during the project period. Still, the initial idea conceives the Graduate School as joint education of Ph.D. students, joint programmes and joint supervision.
The graduate school includes three sections:
- spring schools “Graduate School in European and International Law” in 2017 and 2018 in Saarbrücken offering Ph.D. students courses in European and International Law with focus on the specific areas of EU enlargement policy and the implementation of EU law in acceding and candidate countries,
- D. Colloquia in 2017 and 2018 in Saarbrücken offering PhD candidates, professors and assistants a podium to present and discuss their PhD subjects, exchange ideas and debate current developments in topics connected to SEE, accession, the neighbourhood policy of the European Union and cross-border regional and local cooperation.
- research stays foreseen as individual study visits of some of the participants.
